The
coronavirus pandemic, which has affected the world, has failed to prevent the
fight against homelessness. The international meeting of the project "Homecoming
of People Living in the Street by Rehabilitation and Mediation Project (HOPE)" was hosted by Hungarian Partner Human
Profess on 18-19 October 2021 with face-to-face participation. Representatives
of institutions and organizations from Turkiye, Austria, Italy and Hungary
attended the meeting. The meeting where the host made their opening speech was
continued with the speech of Professor Doctor Yusuf GENÇ, the coordinator on
behalf of Sakarya University.
Stating
that the duration of the project was extended for another year with the effect
of the pandemic, he said that all activities were continued without slowing
down. In the past period, he stated that the training modules prepared for the
homeless, homeless families and professional staff working with the homeless
have been completed and will be translated into five different languages and
transferred to the online learning platform. Stating that with the online
learning platform, a unique resource will be produced open to everyone in
understanding the problem of homelessness, raising awareness about combating
homelessness and producing new strategies, Genç stated that he cares about the
sustainability of the project outputs.
At
the meeting, where an academic article on the problem of homelessness is about
to be published, it was stated that two different books will be produced to
understand the problems of the homeless and to develop solutions. In addition,
it was emphasized that the gains obtained within the scope of the project will
be shared on all kinds of platforms and an important basis will be laid for
future studies in the field of homelessness.
